macOS counts purgeable space as free, hides local snapshots inside “System Data”, and lets APFS clones share blocks between “copies”. DriveDive reconciles all of it, on screen, in one bar:
- Shared-block honesty. Clone extents are disclosed, not double-counted in silence.
- Unreadable ≠ invisible. Protected folders are counted, flagged, and explained — with the full volume equation one click away.
- No double dipping. Mounted disk images and the raw APFS Data mount are skipped so nothing is counted twice.
